Today was our annual visit with the Rotary District 5110 Governor John Bushnell. Here are a few notes on John’s vision for his year as District Governor:

  • Most people join Rotary to make a positive impact but they STAY in Rotary most often for the friendship. Rotary was started in order to foster friendships between the first four Rotarians.
  • Did you know Rotary came from the “rotation” of meetings between the first members’ offices?
  • Rotary is about Service, Friendship, and Leverage. How can we be a gift to the world? By working with other members, clubs, and districts all over the world…by working together and leveraging those resources, we can do extraordinary things.
    • John gave the example of working with three other clubs in their area to build a million dollar playground in his hometown as well as eradicating Polio and all of the other wonderful projects clubs throughout our district are accomplishing.
  • Let’s be active in the 5 avenues of service:
    • Club Service
    • Community Service
    • International Service
    • Youth Service
    • Vocational Service
  • The District Conference will be in Bend May 6-8. “District Conference with an Altitude”
  • Other Events to Get Involved In:
    • Foundation Seminar
    • Membership Rally
    • District Training Assembly
    • Rotary Leadership Institute
  • We’ve become a very inclusive organization and as a result, we are gaining members.
