Long Term Planning
2020 RI Convention
Some of you may recall a comment I made not long ago about NEXT year’s convention being held in Honolulu. We’ve learned that the dates are June 6-10, 2020. Karen Fretwell is going to work with a wholesaler to see what kind of prices we can get if we get a group together. She’ll be filling you in as she gets the info. If you’ve not been to the RI convention, it’s a pretty amazing experience, and a wonderful way to develop a greater understanding of the worldwide impact of Rotary. Quite a few Southtowners Have been to one, so if you’d like to talk to one of those people, please let me know.
Trip to Project Amigo planned
A Southtowne trip to Project Amigo and San Miguel de Allende is being planned for 2020! After contacting John Doherty in San Miguel at the School for the Deaf and the staff at Project Amigo it looks like the best time for everyone is going to be as follows: San Miguel – January 22-25 Project Amigo Work Week (English Tutoring) – January 26-February 2
We will need to reserve spots early at Project Amigo to accommodate a large group. If you are interested in participating in this trip please give me a call so I can begin to get a final count for our reservations. So far, the following people have expressed interest:
- Nancy and Walt Meyer
- Ted and Marilyn Stevens
- Dick and Lynn Stevens (Ted’s brother and sister-in-law)
- Lonny and Mary Ellen King
- Kathi Hoffer
- Camille and Jim Ronzio
If you would like to find out more about these projects that have been supported by Southtowne for many years you can visit their websites at www.projectamigo.org and www.eeesma.com. We’d love to have you be part of this international experience and opportunity to learn about these amazing programs and interact with the students that we support. I hope to hear from you soon!
